The domestic violence victim, Rizwana, has been discharged from Lahore's General Hospital after months-long fight for survival. The child is now in the custody of the Child Welfare and Protection Bureau (CWPB). Rizwana, who endured trauma, expressed her pleasure in an interaction with media stating,” I am happy today as I have recovered, and I was well taken care of in the hospital.”

Punjab's caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi congratulated Rizwana, her mother and other family members. The 14-year-old domestic help was hospitalised in a critical condition after Somia Asim, wife of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez, tortured her. The woman was later arrested as the case was highlighted in the media. Somia Asim faced incarceration and was finally bailed out on Sept 4, 2003. The harrowing case of brutal treatment of the child came to light when Rizwana’s parents shifted her to a Lahore hospital with serious injuries. They alleged the judge's wife had inflicted severe torture on their daughter.

In a seminar organized by the Department of Pulmonology at Lahore General Hospital on Wednesday, Post Graduate Medical & Ameer Uddin Medical College Principal Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar emphasized the importance of learning from developed countries to tackle Pakistan’s smog crisis. He highlighted the extensive industrial network in developed nations and measured taken by them is a key factor in their success in combating smog.

Dr. Zafar pointed out that smog, a hazardous mix of air pollution, smoke, and fog, poses significant health risks, especially to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women. He urged public awareness campaigns and emphasized the need to focus on vehicle emissions and modernizing brick kilns to reduce harmful fumes.

Upgradation project of the Lahore General Hospital emergency block has been launched on Sunday. Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi reached the hospital to review upgradation work of the emergency block.

The caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited Lahore General Hospital and reviewed the treatment facilities and inspected emergency, other wards as well as x-ray room. The CM Mohsin Naqvi met with the patients, their attendants and inquired from them about treatment facilities and free medicines. Few patients and their attendants complained about delay in the check-up by the doctors. Mohsin Naqvi ordered the hospital administration to redress the complaints of the patients forthwith and ensure their timely check-up.

The CM reviewed the cleanliness situation and directed to further improve cleanliness arrangements in the hospital. He shook hands with the doctors present on their duty and commended them on serving the distressed humanity.

In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded at Lahore General Hospital (LGH), a distressed young mother, Sidra Afzal (22), made a desperate leap from the hospital's second floor, just days after giving birth to her third daughter.

Preliminary investigations into the incident have revealed that Sidra took this extreme step to escape the anticipated "comments or taunts" from her relatives, who were hoping for the birth of a boy.

The tragic incident occurred while Sidra was receiving medical care in the hospital's labor room. She plunged from a window, sustaining critical injuries, and was immediately rushed to the Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences (PINS) in a critical condition.

According to LGH officials, Sidra had initially given birth to her third daughter via a Cesarean section on September 18 at a private hospital in Kasur. Her deteriorating health condition prompted her transfer to LGH for further treatment.

Lahore General Hospital (LGH) administration has released the annual performance report of its hospital, according to which during the last fiscal year, a total of 2,448,123 patients were given medical treatment in Emergency and Outdoor Departments.

It is mentionable that 278,000 patients have increased as compare to the last year. Principal LGH Prof Al-Fareed Zafar has also expressed his full confidence in the performance of the institution. It was announced by PGMI/AMC Principal Prof Al-Fareed Zafar while presiding over a meeting held here to issue the annual performance report from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Giving the details of the data of the hospital, he added that in the emergency 1,166,190 patients were supplied with equipment from syringe to operation, medicines and tests were provided free of charge, 1,281,923 patients came in the Outdoor, of which 76,630 patients were admitted. 150,123 Ultrasounds were performed while more than 10,000 births took place and they were discharged with protective injections.

The principal highlighted that 17,283 dialysis, 63,033 ECG, 669 Neuro Angiography and 1746 patients were given radiation for treatment. He expressed his determination to use all his energies to build the hospital and continue to provide facilities to all citizens without any interruption.

Caretaker Provincial Health Minister Dr Javed Akram inaugurated a gymnasium at the Lahore General Hospital.

On this occasion, Principal Amir-ud-Din Medical College and General Hospital Prof Dr Sardar Zafar Al Farid, Punjab Institute of Neurosciences Executive Director Prof Dr Asif Bashir, faculty members and representatives of YDA were also present.

Health Minister Dr Javed Akram and Principal Dr Sardar Zafar Al Farid checked the quality by exercising on each machine in the gymnasium. The minister said that doctors who take care of patients should also take care of their own health. Common people want to see a healthy doctor. Health is a priceless blessing of God. We should adopt a healthy lifestyle to live a healthy life.

A separate 40-bed Gastroenterology Ward was set up at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) to facilitate patients, as was stated by Principal Post-graduate Medical Institute Professor Dr Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar while talking to the media on Saturday.

He stated that patients suffering from diseases of the stomach, intestines and liver would be provided the best treatment facilities, while the ward would be supervised by Professor Muhammad Akif Dilshad.

The Post Graduate Medical Institute/Lahore General Hospital (PGMI/LGH) Principal Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar has said that the healthcare professionals are providing the best medical facilities to the patients at the Lahore General Hospital. While speaking at a meeting here on Monday, the principal said that, under the policy of the Punjab government and the supervision of Provincial Health Minister Prof Dr Javed Akram, all resources are being utilised for the welfare of the patients, who are the top priority in this hospital. He informed that during the first 9 months of this year, more than 18 lacs patients were treated in the emergency and outdoor departments of LGH for which patients were treated without any discrimination.

The Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar has said that there is nothing greater than serving the people of Al­lah Almighty, especially serving the ailing hu­manity. He added that traders always cooper­ated with the hospitals to facilitate the patients, for which we pay gratitude to them. He further said that the financial support to the hospitals by philanthropists is a good omen which ultimately helps in in­creasing the treatment facilities. Prof Al-Fa­reed expressed these views while speaking at the ceremony of donating high quality cloth worth millions of rupees to Professor of Urology Dr Khizar Hayat Gondal by philanthropists of Anjuman Tajran Bedon Road for the Operation Theatre of De­partment of Urology, LGH.
